What is an IEC?
The Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a mandatory 10-digit business identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce. No export or import can be made by any person without an IEC.

7 Steps to Obtain Your IEC
Visit DGFT Portal
Access the official Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) website (dgft.gov.in).
Register User Account
Create an account using PAN, Email, and Mobile number. OTP verification is required to proceed.
Fill ANF-2A Form
Login and fill out the detailed online application form with your business, director/partner, and bank details.
Upload Documents
Upload high-quality scanned copies of required proofs (PAN, address proof, cancelled cheque/bank certificate).
Pay Government Fee
Make the non-refundable online payment of ₹500 via Net Banking, UPI, or Cards.
E-Sign Application
Submit the application using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar e-sign (for proprietors).
Receive Certificate
Usually processed within 1-3 working days. Once approved, download the e-IEC directly from the portal.
